Spend a leisurely day eperiencing the many savory secrets of the Casablanca Valley. Vintages have been produced in Chile since the 1550s, making it the oldest wine-producing country in the Americas; however, winemaking is new to the valley. Not until the mid-1980s were grapevines planted on this stretch of coastal land surrounded by forested hills. Today, some of the country's most significant wineries are tucked in the Casablanca Valley. During the grape escape, you'll visit two wineries for a behind-the-scenes tour of the vineyards, winery and sample wine straight from the vine. After a visit to a local Casablanca Valley winery, you'll proceed to Estancia El Cuadro, home of the area's first viticulture museum. Explore the sculpted grounds and vineyards, and taste some of the wines from this region while watching a folkloric show performed by Chilean cowboys followed by a buffet lunch.
The servers kept coming around pouring as much of either this red wine or a white wine as you wished. We liked this wine so purchased a bottle and brought it onto the ship. Princess didn't give us any problem or charge us anything for bringing onboard the two wines that we purchased.
We signed up for the "Tour de France" Wine Tasting that was canceled for the first segment of this cruise. We also signed up for the "Grapevine Wine Tasting" which conflicted with another tasting on the first segment. We did not sign up for the "Caymus Dinner" on the first cruise segment so we signed up for it on this cruise segment. Princess did not even try to redo either the Whiskey Tasting or the Premium Cognac Tasting which were both canceled for the first segment of this cruise due to lace of participation. I guess they decided to not even try to get enough signups for this segment. We are not repeating any of the wine tastings that we already did on the first segment of the cruise.
