The Key Program
Breakfast Menu

As part of The Key Program they offer a special breakfast menu served in the Main Dining Room. I'm a fan of Eggs Benedict, but not of crab. I asked our server if I could have the "Royal VIP Signature" breakfast without the crab. He said he'd have to go downstairs to get just a regular Eggs Benedict, which he did for me.

Even though another benefit of The Key Program is that your luggage gets taken off the ship first, placed in a separate easy to locate luggage collection area and you are allowed depart before most others, we were in no rush to depart the ship. We were heading to a hotel near Universal Studios to spend a couple of days in Orlando and check-in time at the hotel wasn't until 4pm. Also, the Uber rates tend to be very high during the peak demand of when everyone is rushing off the ship.

There is something we have done for the departure on prior cruise which I did not do on this one. I will often book a hotel right be the airport and then book an airport transfer from the cruise line, or a shore excursion that ends at the airport. This can often be a low cost way to get to the airport which can be quite a distance from the cruise terminal, and sometimes even kill some time so you aren't waiting so long at the airport for your flight. Even if your flight isn't until the next day, it is usually an inexpensive Uber or taxi ride between the airport and an airport hotel. Taking an Uber from the cruise port to our hotel was fairly expensive being almost an hour ride, and then it is another 17 mile ride from our hotel to the airport on Tuesday.

Tabla Indian Restaurant

Tabla Indian Restaurant is an award-winning Indian restaurant in Orlando. Led by a team of highly skilled and experienced chefs, Tabla focuses on Indian, Indo-Chinese, and Thai cuisine with subtle and complex flavors. The Tabla special menu is created with care and promises to delight its guests with the best Indian food, capturing the delectable and unforgettable flavors of the region. From Tandoori kebabs and wholesome curries to regional specialties like Rogan Josh, biryanis, and signature dishes like butter chicken and Tabla's vegetable curry, Tabla's wide range of dishes are all cooked from fresh, high-quality ingredients and seasoned with home-ground spices.

They claim to be the best Indian restaurant in Orlando. The food was excellent, well spiced, but expensive. They offer no buffet at lunch or dinner. Each individual main meal item costs $21 or so and only comes with rice. Lunch is a bit less expensive at around $16 per item with an included appetizer and rice. Having a high price Indian restaurant associated with a budget hotel seemed a bit strange. I would guess that most hotel guests spend more on a meal in this restaurant then they spend for one night at this hotel. Rates at this hotel tend to range between $60 and $90 per night.

For an appetizer we ordered the Chaat Platter ($19) - pani poori, samosa, dahl bhalla and aloo tikki chaat. This gave us a nice assortment of items in just one order. For our main dishes we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masa ($23) - chicken cooked with tomato-coriander sauce flavored with bell peppers & onions, and the Bhindi Masala Fri ($22) - okra stir fried with garlic, tomatoes & onions flavored with chef's special spices. We asked them to prepare it a bit more than medium spicy. The waiter said that medium should give us what we want. He was right. The medium was spiced just right. At some Indian restaurants, ordering medium results in the spicy being too bland for our tastes. But at others, like this one, medium is just right.
