WHAT YOU VISIT
McLaren Vale
Located between the rolling Mount Lofty Ranges and Gulf St. Vincent beaches, the birthplace of South Australia's wine industry has been renowned for its wines since 1838. With its Mediterranean climate and dry warm winters, the region is known for Australian reds like shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and Grenache and Mediterranean varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. There are more than 88 cellar doors in McLaren Vale and the majority are small family-run operations and boutique wineries. Get a taste of its celebrated wines with tastings at two cellar doors overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills of the Adelaide countryside. Along the way, you'll discover why the region is highly regarded and meet the locals who are passionate about what they do.
LUNCH
Take a bite out of McLaren Vale with a buffet lunch accompanied by a glass of wine and tea/coffee at a local restaurant. On the menu is a selection of local cold meats with relish/chutney, farm baked herbed ricotta cheese, farm olives, almonds, cherry tomatoes, two varieties of organic extra virgin olive oil (guided tasting), selection of pickled vegetables, mayo/parsley stuffed eggs, bowl of hummus dip with crackers, farm baked breads, and fresh salad greens (subject to change and seasonality).
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Only 45 minutes south of Adelaide, your drive takes you along lush rolling wine country.
