Left is just one of the many fishing boats that we saw for hours after leaving Vietnam. Right is a notice that received along with forms to fill out before disembarkation in Singapore.
This is one of the two bottles that we brought on board with us. We saved it until almost the last day of the cruise. I purchased at OC Wine Mart during a special promotion. At the time I purchased it a web searched showed the average retail price to be $180 per bottle but was being sold for only $89.99 per bottle during this special tasting event and sale. It was definitely the best wine that we had during the entire cruise.
Appetizers: Stuffed Mushrooms - Spinach, Romano Cheese, Fine Herbs; Shrimp Cocktail - Traditional cocktail sauce; Chesapeake Crab Cake - Herb Remoulade.
We prefer the hot soft bread to eat along with the cheese plate that we ordered for dessert rather than the few tiny harder pieces of bread that they provide with the cheese plate. Thus we set these aside to eat with our cheese plate dessert. I also ordered the New England Clam Chowder - Potatoes, Little Necks.
This is an area of the Carnival Splendor that you hope not to have to visit during your cruise. While eating dinner my wife, Barbara, went numb. It not only panicked me, but also the people at the table next to us and our servers. Two of the big strong servers in the dinning room helped Barbara into her wheelchair and wheeled her to the elevator and down to the Medical Center. For a short while she was not responding to questions or instructions but then recovered rapidly. Her breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and pulse were all within normal range. A quick blood test did not show anything abnormal.
The best guest of the doctor is that it may have been an interaction between the usual medications that she takes, plus some Advil she took for the pain in her legs, plus a cold medication she had taken earlier in the day for a cough, and then the wine we had with dinner. The doctor wanted to keep her overnight for observations but Barbara preferred to sign a release form to spend the night in our own cabin. She seemed fine after that for the rest of the night and in the morning. We've decided to stay away from wine and other spirits for a while, at least while Barbara is on any over-the-counter pain and cold medications.
