This is a bottle of wine that we purchased in The Black Pearl restaurant a couple of days ago unopened. Yes, you can purchase bottles of wine at the restaurant unopened to take back to your cabin or drink elsewhere on the ship. It is Bin #323 and the cost is $38 per bottle with 14% ABV. Barbara and I both rated this wine as "Good Plus". We drank most of this in our room during the day but then brought a couple of very full glasses with us to dinner so that we wouldn't have to carry both the bottle and two empty wine glasses to dinner. Since dinner would be at the Tandoor on the Lido Deck, I wasn't sure they'd have empty wine glasses there for us. Also, we had managed to snag a couple of good wine glasses with cut edge rims like the Rydel wine glasses that we use at home. We kept these extra wine glasses in our room as we find the wine tastes much better from these wine glasses than the ones with the rounded edges. In the ships restaurants and bars it seems rather random whether you get a finer wine glass with a cut edge or a cheaper one with a rounded edge.
"the very best of south west coastal indian cuisines, here you will find an exquisite range of contemporary and healthy dishes that are created with flair, style and a deep respect for ingredients!"
After we finished the glasses of wine that we brought with us to dinner, we ordered a bottle of this wine. At the start of dinner they did present to us the same wine list as they have at the "Your Time Dining" Black Pearl Restaurant. I am sure this is also the same wine list that they have at the "Early Dining" and "Late Dining" Gold Pearl Restaurant. I have not seen a wine list in the Lido Buffet Restaurant or in any of the bars. Barbara and I both rated this wine as "Very Good". Finally another wine from the Carnival Splendor Wine List that we enjoy and would be happy to order again! But notice that this wine is in the mid $40's per bottle price range ($46). Generally price and how good a wine tastes does not directly correlate, but so far it seems to do that from the wine list on this ship. I have as yet to find any wines in the $30 price range that are good enough to order again but I have found three in the $40 price range that we would order again: the 2015 Sokol Blosser Evolution Pinot Noir $45 (13.5%), the 2017 Cherry Pie Three Vineyards Pinot Noir $46 (14.2%), and the Duckhorn Vineyards Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon $47 (13.9%).
We don't know what this dish is. We ordered the "Sabzian - vegetarian specialties: tandoori khumb and shimla mirch - portobello mushroom filled peas, charred green pepper coulis, cheese, coconut and curry leaf sauce. This dish had all sorts of meat in it. It was delicious! But we can't find any description on the menu that matches this dish. Siva came to our table and said he was glad that we ordered this item as it is a specialty. We tried to ask him what item it was but we didn't understand how his answer matched what we ordered. But we were definitely not unhappy with it.
