Taking A Tour Of Montreal
Exhibits From Expo 67
In 1967 Canada held a huge world exposition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the nation called
Expo 67.
The geodesic dome shown in one of the photos above was the United States Pavilion.
It was also the year that the revolutionary "rubber tire" Montreal subway system opened.
I visited Expo'67 in 1967 and then visited it in subsequent years when its name was changed to "Man and His World".
The geodesic dome was turned into an aviary. I think most of the exhibitions closed by 1971. The few buildings that
had not deteriorated where put to new purposes. By 2017 another 50 years had passed and Canada celebrated its 150th
anniversary. However, a huge world class exhibition facilities was not created for celebrating that anniversary.
