For "STARTER" we ordered the "FRIED CALAMARI RINGS - tangy tomato sauce", "ISRAELI CHOPPED SALAD - chopped vegetables, fresh herbs, lemon and olive oil". For "MAIN COURSE" we ordered the "SALMON PAILLARD - grilled fillet of pacific salmon on lemon dill sabayon, steamed vegetable juliennes, potato" and "CHICKEN PARMIGIANA - pan-fried supreme of chicken, baked with mozzarella cheese served over trennette neapolitan". The above photos are of our "MAIN COURSE". We didn't order dessert but we did order coffee.
One server came over to us and mentioned that he remembered us from one of our prior cruises on the Carnival Splendor, probably from our 14 Day Hawaii Cruise in January 2019. I think it was that cruise that we booked too late to be assigned to "Your Time Dining" in The Black Pearl Restaurant and were instead assigned to "Late Dining" in The Gold Pearl Restaurant. We always select "Your Time Dining" or "Anytime Dining" on every cruise that we take as "Early Dining" or "Late Dining" will often conflict with other events that we wish to attend. When we can select when we want to dine, then we can move our dining time around each day depending on what events we want to attend without being forced to have dinner at the buffet. On that cruise where we were assigned to "Late Dining" we often ate in the buffet as our late dining time often interfered with an event we wanted to attend.
The above photos were taken in the Carnival Splendor Gold Pearl Restaurant. This is the restaurant used for those who selected or were assigned to either "Early Dining" or "Late Dining". It is also sometimes open for lunch in which case it is just "open seating" as it was for lunch today. People who selected "Your Time Dining" have dinner in The Black Pearl Restaurant.
The last photo I took of ourselves by zooming into our image in a mirror across from us. Around most of the restaurant our windows facing outside the ship but in one small section there are large mirrors instead of windows.
Earlier in the day I received a phone call that notified me that I had purchased two "Birthday Surprise Packages" for my wife and their accounting system only allows our cabin to be charged for one of them. They said they would be refunding one of them to me and asked how I would like to receive the credit. I told them crediting it to our "Sign & Sail" account would be fine as I knew we'd be spending much more onboard on this trip than the amount of that credit. The above notices probably relate to that refund as it is for an amount about the cost of one of those "Birthday Surprise Packages". I think I mentioned earlier how I ended up buying two "Birthday Surprise Packages". A day or so we were about to board this cruise I looked through all my paperwork and also went onto the Carnival website and could not find any confirmation anywhere that I had ever purchased a "Birthday Surprise Package". Wanting to make sure that it would be delivered to our room, I purchased it again, but this time I noticed that I could purchase it without a cake, which we would not want. But when we entered our cabin, there was two of everything! Except for the cake. There was just one of those. We had two bouquets of roses, two sets of decorations, and one cake. So, obviously my first purchase had gone through. I'm usually pretty thorough about printing receipts for everything so I don't know why I could not find a record of my first purchase, or why I couldn't find any record of it on my account on the Carnival website. Everything else that I had purchased was listed in my account on the Carnival website.
We stayed in this evening so the cabin steward was not able to come in to make up our cabin or to leave a towel animal for us. We got a mushroom pizza with extra tomato sauce from "Pizza Pirate" that is open 24 hours on the Lido Deck. We really wanted a mushroom and onion pizza, but Pizza Pirate does not have any onions. I knew that "Off The Grill" has sauteed onions but that had closed earlier. I went by the Deli to see if maybe they had some onions, but I didn't see any. However, there was a sign that said they had a "Chicken Tika Masala" sandwich, "one night only". I could not pass that up and ordered one of those also! My wife and I mostly just ate the chicken and sauce part of that sandwich as we already were eating enough bread with the pizza.
