Whenever we are London, we always take the "Tube / Underground" everywhere. The traffic is so bad in London, England, that the best way to get around is the "Tube". We always use that method when in London and you can get pretty much everywhere pretty fast. We always look to reserve a hotel that is very close to a Tube Station. We stayed at the Holiday Inn London - Mayfair as it is only about 2 blocks from the Green Park Underground Tube Station.

I was looking for a 24/7 restaurant that is always open and found the Duck & Waffle Restaurant that is open around the clock. It is 40 Floors up and has a complete view of London. Looking at their website they said to either make a reservation or just drop in. So, I decided we should just "drop in" without making a reservation. Big mistake! Yes, you can just drop in any time, any day, between 1 AM and 5 AM. But if you arrive anytime other than those hours, you had better have a reservation! We arrive at about 10 PM and were told by the 3 doormen that it is all booked up until at least 11:30 PM. Next time we'll make sure to either make a reservation or not come until after 1 AM in the morning.

The above photos are of the Liverpool Street Station near the Duck & Waffle Restaurant. There is an entire shopping mall inside this huge station.

Since we'd have to wait a long time to get into the Duck & Waffle Restaurant, we decied to instead to go to Jazz After Dark in SOHO and enjoy some live jazz while having a late night snack. My wife and I are huge jazz fans. Whenever we visit London we frequent all the jazz clubs. You can find a list of those at my other website, JazzDens.com.

Though a bit tight and crowded, the music and food there is great! The group tonight was playing many of the top hits from the 1960's and 1970's, my generation! This is one of our favorite jazz clubs in London as they usually have jazz until 2 AM on weekdays and even later on weekends.

It was pretty good.

Since it was a Thursday, the Underground / Tube Late Night Trains were not running. They only run on Friday and Saturday eveing. Thus we decided to take UberX for our ride back to the hotel. That only ended up costing 13.61 GBP including tip.
